Expertise in criminal proceedings
From now on, examinations in criminal proceedings will also be carried out by forensic experts who are not employees of state specialized institutions, who can be involved by the parties to criminal proceedings independently on contractual terms or by an investigating judge at the request of the parties to the proceedings (Law of Ukraine No. 187-IX "On Amendments to Some Legislative acts of Ukraine on the improvement of certain provisions of the criminal procedural legislation "dated 04.10.2019 was published on 16.10.2019 and comes into force from the day following the day ). At the same time, these changes do not have a retroactive effect in time and are applied to cases in which information about a criminal offense has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations after the amendments are put into effect in accordance with this Law.
